“Reverie: Kiss” is an audio-visual work featuring two masterpieces, “The Kiss” by Gustav Klimt and “Rêverie” by Claude Debussy. The artwork explores particle sculptures using data sources in a digital space.
This piece reinterprets Klimt's “The Kiss” by deconstructing the visual elements and metaphors of the original painting. The passion is represented in an almost abstract way, where lovers are fragile glass figures with blood boiling inside of them. The distinctive golden cloak and dress of the original painting here becomes a curtain that protects the lovers' private space, only offering occasional glimpses inside. Attached to the outside of that curtain are the crystalline geometric forms found on the man's cloak of the original painting, while the inside of the curtain has comforting soft organic forms that Klimt used to represent a woman's dress. While the original painting may be seen as projecting stereotypes to gender roles (male: protective; female: sensitive), this piece avoids these stereotypes by using other kind of duality: instead of male/female duality of original painting, this piece uses outside/inside of the golden curtain. The curtain itself is shown as old, dated and ripped, a testament of the time passing since the Klimt immortalised these lovers’ passion in a painting, over a century ago.
“An Intimate Embrace” is an homage to one of the most touching masterpieces by Gustav Klimt “The Kiss”. The main inspiration behind the artwork is the feeling of a warm embrace. Bright and peaceful tones of orange, yellow and green symbolize the true passion, love and the feeling of frozen time when embraced by the loved one which is golden.
This piece is a digital interpretation of the world known painting “The Kiss” by Gustav Klimt. Highlighting the composition aspects, this work brings a new layer of meaning with motion and animation.
“Sicine Subrepsti” is an artwork created with the machine intelligence. “It is difficult for me to understand whether I inspired AI, or whether AI inspired me”, – Oleg Chomp. Through a set of mathematical algorithms, virtual metamorphosis it explores the relationship between humans and machines. The particle flows were generated with the multilayer data extracted from the original picture. Music was created with the Magenta AI and influenced by parsed image data. Lastly, this description was generated using GPT-3.
“I only see this reciprocal kiss with her, if his intentions are pure, and my love, seen with vines, releases its chains and transforms into beautiful flowers. Flowers do not wait for reciprocal love, but we give it in honor of beauty. Love is Freedom, love is Peace, love is the Nature”, – Ellen Sheidlin.
